Public Transportation

Public transportation options are available to get into and around Yosemite National Park.  There are public transit services to and from airports in the area including San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland, and Merced.  Amtrak train service is available from Merced to the Bay Area. The Yosemite Regional Transportation System - YARTS - operates year-round and accesses Yosemite Valley via CA 140 through the Arch Rock Entrance from the gateway town of Mariposa and the city of Merced.

In Yosemite Valley, the Free Hybrid Shuttle is an environmentally friendly and easy way to explore the park.  There are also many transit options to experience the park beyond Yosemite Valley including bus tours, Glacier Point Road and Tioga Road hikers buses, the Mariposa Grove to Wawona shuttle bus, the Wawona Hotel to Yosemite Lodge shuttle bus and the Badger Pass Ski Area shuttle bus.

Shuttle Service

Park & Ride or Hike

Though cars and other private vehicles are allowed in Yosemite National Park, our shuttle bus system is a great way to experience Yosemite! The free hybrid shuttle bus system operates year-round in Yosemite Valley with all other shuttle bus systems operating seasonally.

Free Yosemite Valley Shuttle Bus
The free Valley Shuttle runs on a continuous loop through Yosemite Valley throughout the day all year-round. The daily start and end time for the shuttle varies with the season and a few stops are seasonal and or stop service at dark. Park your car at your hotel or campground, or use the day parking lots located in Yosemite Village and Curry Village. The Valley Shuttle stops at all lodging and camping venues as well as Yosemite Village, Happy Isles, Yosemite Valley Stable, Sentinel Bridge, Yosemite Falls, and LeConte Memorial Lodge. In summer, a separate loop route includes a stop at El Capitan and the Four Mile Trail from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm beginning May 22, 2015. Avoid the hassles of parking and traffic as you relax, take in the sights and let us do the driving! During the winter the Yosemite Valley Shuttle system operates 7:00 am to 10:00 pm and runs every 30 minutes. In the summer, buses run every 10-20 minutes. Free Wawona to Mariposa Grove Shuttle Bus
Due to the restoration of the Mariposa Grove, this free shuttle will operate through July 5, 2015 only. The Wawona Shuttle operates in a continuous loop that runs from the Wawona Pioneer Gift and Grocery Store to the parking lot at the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias. The shuttle runs every 30 minutes, from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm, with a few stops along the way including the Wawona Golf Course, the Wawona Stable and the Pioneer Yosemite History Center.

Free Glacier Point Road Shuttle

NEW! Glacier Point is one of Yosemite's most breathtaking overlooks and one of the most popular areas of the park in summer. From July 6 through September 7, 2015, you can leave the driving to us and park your vehicle at the Badger Pass Ski Area parking lot to board a free round-trip shuttle to Glacier Point. Stops include Sentinel Dome and Taft Point.

Hikers Buses
The Tuolumne Meadows Hikers Bus and Glacier Point Hikers Bus are available for a fee. Each option offers access to Tioga Road or Glacier Point Road trail heads.  Call (209) 372-4386 for information, pick-up points, reservations and fees.

Free Tuolumne Meadows Shuttle Bus
The free Tuolumne Meadows shuttle operates from mid-June through the first week of September (weather permitting). The shuttle operates on a continuous loop from Tuolumne Meadows to Olmsted Point with scheduled stops as well as flagged stops along the way; there is limited service to Tioga Pass. This shuttle provides access from day use parking to  trail heads and back again. Service runs approximately every 30 minutes. Free Badger Pass Ski Area Shuttle Bus
During the winter, the Badger Pass shuttle bus provides access from multiple locations in Yosemite Valley in the morning to Yosemite's Badger Pass Ski Area. In the afternoon, shuttles return guests to Yosemite Valley. View the Badger Pass Shuttle Schedule.
