Green Meetings in Yosemite

Green Meetings in Yosemite

At Yosemite National Park, there is a special responsibility to conduct green meetings and events.  Environmental best practices are integrated into the day-to-day operations of Delaware North Companies Parks & Resorts at Yosemite. Delaware North’s innovative GreenPath program guides our sustainable, eco-first approach to Yosemite National Park group meetings.

We hope you will join us in protecting our planet with the green meetings tips below, and by taking advantage of the eco-services available in Yosemite.  It’s only natural!

Let Half Dome and El Capitan inspire your Yosemite green meetings and conferences.  Submit a Request for Proposal.  To inquire further about our facilities or the many options for Northern California green meetings available to you in Yosemite, please contact us via email or call us at (801) 559-4900.

Reusable Rules!

Minimizing our impact on Yosemite National Park’s ecosystem by reducing waste is key.  Meetings in Yosemite are carefully planned to be as close to zero-impact as possible.  Here are some ways to get there:

  • Provide water pitchers and glasses instead of bottled water
  • Serve milk, sugar and other condiments in bulk, rather than individual packets
  • Use china instead of paper or plastic plates and bowls and cups.
  • Replace paper napkins with washable linen napkins
  • Offer metal cutlery, instead of plasticware
  • Display edible-organic centerpieces, or those made from reusable items such as silk.
  • Provide coasters instead of paper doilies
  • If disposables must be used, select biodegradable or recyclable alternatives.

Sustainable Food and Beverages

We are proud to serve sustainable and organic green meetings menus.  Whenever possible, our chefs source locally to bring our guests the freshest, most flavorful cuisine possible.  Options include:

  • Organic beverages (such as coffee, tea or wine)
  • Local and in-season regional cuisine
  • Sustainable seafood choices
  • Sample organic/sustainable, and/or vegetarian menus are available on request.

Green Meeting Practices

Suggestions for making your meeting as green and low-impact as possible:

  • Maximize paperless technology: take advantage of new media and digital technology to minimize paper use.  Provide presentation information on a flash drive or online for attendees to reference digitally.
  • Place recycling bins in meeting rooms for convenient use.
  • Use white boards instead of flip charts for brainstorming and idea organization.  It's also possible to record brainstorming ideas on a laptop, projected onto a screen for all to reference.
  • Minimize promotional collateral.
  • Provide conference cups or travel mugs for use at all coffee and beverage breaks.  If everyone has the same cup, consider providing a way to personalize or label them to make it easier for attendees to keep track of their drinks.
  • If printed materials are needed, select recycled paper with a high post-consumer content, use vegetable-based inks, and print materials on both sides.

Other Green Meeting Options/Services

  • Take advantage of Yosemite's nature-based activities and programs in between meeting sessions. We have a wide variety of options to choose from – bus tours, guided hikes, evening star programs (and others), biking, rafting, mule or horseback riding, even rock climbing.   Private, custom outings are available.
  • Hop on one of the free hybrid shuttle busses to explore Yosemite.
  • Choose environmentally friendly in-room amenities or gifts
  • Request to have newspaper deliveries stopped if you are not reading them
