Overnight Backpacking Trips at Yosemite

Yosemite Backpacking Trips: Tuolumne Meadows and Yosemite Valley

Backpacking in Yosemite
Spectacular scenery, mild weather and nearly 1,000 miles of trails make Yosemite National Park an oasis for backpackers. Yosemite Mountaineering School & Guide Service offers both scheduled group trips and custom-designed Yosemite backpacking vacations to suit your interests and availability. YMS takes care of the permits and planning so that you can relax and enjoy your adventure.

Our guides are experienced locals who can share information and insight with you about Yosemite's geology, history, plants and wildlife.  Plus, our backpacking instruction covers backpacking equipment from stoves and water filters to tents and clothing. We teach a full range of wilderness skills designed to help you tackle virtually any backpacking trip. Just a few of the topics we cover include: map and compass usage, proper food storage, animal safety, stream crossing and also how to enjoy the out doors while keeping our environmental impact to a minimum.  Leave No TraceSM principles help us preserve and protect our wilderness for years to come.

Reservations and deposits are required for all Yosemite backpacking trips. Please call us with any questions or for reservations at (209) 372-8344. If you see a group trip that interests you but it doesn't fit your schedule, remember we can customize any trip for you! Yosemite backpacking trips are limited to maximum of seven people, aged 12 and older. Private backpacking vacations are open to all ages and ability levels.

This three-day trip is an unique opportunity to see all of the world famous sights of Yosemite Valley.  The first day of the trip starts on the historic Big Oak Flat Trail. After camp set-up, watch the sunset from the top of Yosemite Falls with great views of Half Dome and the Clark Range. The last day consists of hiking down the Yosemite Falls Trail with iconic views and lots of switchbacks. During the trip, guides from the Yosemite Mountaineering School teach Leave No Trace backpacking skills and general backpacking and hiking skills along the way.
