Rock Climbing at Yosemite National Park

Yosemite Rock Climbing

The Yosemite Mountaineering School and Guide Service has been a tradition in Yosemite rock climbing since 1969.  Our guides can take you where you want to go, from learning your first knots, in our beginner Go Climb A Rock classes, to multi-day ascents of El Capitan for the more experienced.  As the only guide service permitted to operate within Yosemite National Park, we know Yosemite better than anyone, and would love sharing our knowledge and skills with you.

Many of our climbing guides are also AMGA certified, and have decades of climbing experience in the park.  All of our guides also hold Wilderness First Responder or Wilderness EMT certifications.

To make a reservation for a Rock Climbing Class, call us at (209) 372-8344 or send us an email: yms@dncinc.com.

In addition to rock climbing, the Mountaineering School provides group hikes and custom day hikes as well as overnight backpacking trips.  During the winter we move up to the Cross Country Ski Center at Badger Pass, where we offer XC ski lessons, rentals and overnight trips to our beautiful Glacier Point Hut.

Testimonials

“I went on the highsierra camp loop in 1956 with a guide and loved it. It was the beginning of my love for Yosemite and the hihg country. I am now lucky to be able to do it again in 2010. I can't wait to do it again. Wonderful experience. I am 78 years old and still can hike 8-10 miles. So you are never too old!!”
